Custom App with IR

Hello friends,

I see we can run our own apps on the RS90, which is very exciting.

I want to run something like :

This app is great, and the UI even fits well on the RS90.
The main draw, for me, is it will take the saved files from custom remotes made with a FlipperZero and send the captured RAW data out, with custom images and a nice interface.

However, the IR does not work on the RS90, when it does with a normal Android phone/device with IR built-in. :downcast_face_with_sweat:

@ccsfounder, does the RS90 use something custom, that’s not a “built-in IR”? I guess we could stick a USB-C IR blaster in the bottom of the remote and use it upside down… but I’d rather not!

This is very good to know. The RS90 indeed works like a normal IR phone, as we have already tested with many other apps like Mi Remote and Kookong App. What we do in the system app is use the RAW format, and it works.

I would suggest you use other apps and see. We will also test this app and report back here.

Test Confirmation

Test: Just tested the demo codes, and I can confirm they are sent via the IR blaster. I can see the IR LED blinking to the commands sent via this app.

Great, thanks @ccsfounder , i’ll test again with that android ir blaster app I shared above, plus the others you mentioned.

A question though - if you’re doing RAW format in your app, can you also add something like the FlipperZero which records the data sent from other remotes, then saves it and plays it back?

This MAY be a generalization, but, i’m pretty sure this is what people want from a fancy remote like the RS90… to simply consolidate their Amp + other inputs into one remote.

The app I shared above is a lot closer to what I need, and honestly what I expected from the RS90 out-of-the-box. If you could add this feature, it would be a huge turnaround, IMO.

I found the link within the Repo you shared to this Irdb of community created by Flipper zero. We can load this immediately on to our db. This can be massive as looks straightforward to include.

Personally I was looking for the community made db of IR. We are also looking at one more db to be implement.

To confirm, this is a loaded save from FlipperZero.
Using FlipperZero, it plays back and switches my Denon amp to my PS5.

However, it doesn’t work on the RS90. Does it work for you, @ccsfounder ?
Maybe I just have a defective unit in that case, which would explain why i’m having issues with the official apps?
