Device Shown on Touchscreen After Macro Run + Yamaha Integraton

Hi,

Just got my remote + IR/RF extender in the mail. I’m a highly advanced former Harmony 890 Pro user for almost 15 years. Their system was incredible.

I’m learning my way around the software and it is incredibly buggy to the point where I can’t even use my Sony Bravia with the IR extender or via Android TV because of the power on and off issue. It works half the time with both instances. So I’ve defaulted to writing a script that turns it on via Home Assistant when HA senses the AppleTV is on. That’s a bandaid fix for now, hopefully.

I have two issues I’m now working thru. I have an IT background, so really would like to try and debug this software with you.

  1. When I add my Yamaha receiver via the integration it doesn’t bring over all the buttons I have on my remote. For instance, I use the HDMI output to toggle on either the main screen, or the TV in the kitchen. Logitech made this so easy and was an option in the controls. My only workaround I can think of at the moment is to add an IR device and program the button as a learned command via the IR extender. Even when looking at the various Yamaha devices when adding by IR, there is no scheme with the HDMI output button. Secondly, the remote increases the volume by 5db with Vol Up and Down. That is not how it should work nor how Harmony or the actual Yamaha remote handled it. It should go up 0.5db each press.

  2. Macros. In theory this should be much cleaner as a new feature but feels too much in a beta test mode. I created a Macro (manually and using the wizard), to watch AppleTV. Turn on the receiver, put the AppleTV to home and voila. Well, when it does work, the touch screen shows the controls for my Sony TV. With the Wizard, I have said I am changing channels on the AppleTV. So why does it default to the SonyTV control screen? I shouldn’t have to manually switch to the AppleTV screen when the whole purpose of the Macro is to watch on the Apple TV.

For the Yamaha integration, to be honest you are the first user using it who reported something missing. We developed this using a basic 5.1 AVR but also understand there are advanced model with more functionality such as with multiple HDMI output selector. We did this for DENON when a user asked for it. So the missing IP command can be just added by us. But we need inputs form users what they need from us. We are sure Logitech does not offer IP integration of Yamaha and only IR. If you need fine tuning the volume(good observation) we can also modify it to match the original remote but we initially thought 5 db would be better as you can only notice audible difference if it is more than +/- 3 db. This is how professional control systems are usually configured. But you are correct a consumer approach can be different. This should not mark the software as beta IMO.

  1. When you get to the Macro - We simply display device UI of devices used in it. There is a Swipe up which opens page list. The order is fixed for now, but we have already developed an UI selector which will allow you to turn off those pages which are not desired.

Is there going to be an option to allow us to customize the screen? I mean I want buttons from multiple devices on the one screen not, as the OP mentioned, a single device like my TV that I am already mapping physical buttons to. I have no use for duplicate buttons on the touchscreen.

We are going to provide this option by January. We learnt it via the AVA remote we saw at an expo. AVA offers Flow, which is just like Macros on Haptique. Once the flow runs, you have a UI, such as device pages as Haptique has, and a custom page where buttons are placed by the user. First we have to create those predefined buttons and then provide the option to configure a custom UI page. AVA has this as a custom slide. So I think we will follow the same method.
