Kodi integration

any news on when kodi integration will be implemented
this should have been a top priority for this remote as it is avery popular mediaplayer

We have an open soured JAVA app we can implement this next.

That would be great
Thanks

If you’re in a hurry, you can also download the Kodi Remote app from the Aurora Store and use that for control from the RS90. To use the RS90’s buttons, you’ll need to create a custom IP device and enter the appropriate HTTP commands there.

Tried many times to use custom URLs but can’t get it to work using post and get commands

Have you enabled HTTP access in Kodi itself and set a password?

Does the Kodi app on the RS90 work for you? I can also control Kodi from my RS90 via the Kodi app and HTTP requests via Custom IP Device. But that’s just for testing. I personally use Plex, not Kodi, for everyday use.

Can you set the remote buttons while using the kore app

No, unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn’t currently support natively having an app in focus on the display while still being able to use custom IP commands directly with the RS90’s buttons. I’ve already reported this as a point of criticism and a fundamental feature request to the manufacturer.

I personally use Symcon as a system alongside the RS90. Symcon can process the RS90’s button presses via MQTT, even when an app is in focus on the RS90. This allows me, at least in my setup, to have an app in focus while simultaneously using the RS90’s buttons.

Otherwise, you’ll probably have to wait until the manufacturer, Cantata, finally implements the Kodi support they announced back in 2024. Then, you should theoretically be able to use the display and the RS90’s buttons at the same time.

I’m using the RS90’s buttons as well. Currently, using an app and the RS90’s buttons simultaneously is only possible with workarounds or additional systems, such as an external system that handles the control and uses MQTT to read the RS90’s button presses, or by tinkering directly on the RS90 itself using Tasker, which analyzes the button presses and then sends an HTTP request.

However, a basic function like using the RS90’s buttons and an app simultaneously should ideally work without relying on external systems. Ultimately, only the manufacturer, Cantata, can improve or enable this functionality. Currently, workarounds like Tasker or systems externally connected to the RS90 are necessary.

In my test setup i use Symcon to control Kodi and Symcon is getting the Keys via MQTT from the RS90.

thanks for your replies
just have to wait for Cantata to implement kodi and make this a remote worth using

One can only hope that the manufacturer Cantata, which had already announced they would support Kodi with the RS90 in 2024, will finally support it natively with an RS90 themselves.
