Open Source and Future Development
The entire system is completely open sourced and published as repo on our GitHub page. We encourage the community to develop this hardware.
Developers are welcome to create third-party integrations with other platforms. We are excited that a Home Assistant integration is currently being developed by one of our users, and we are also looking into building a Homey App.
Currently, the system uses HTTP polling, but we are actively exploring adding Websocket and MQTT support via an OTA (Over-The-Air) update. Furthermore, we plan to release another version with Matter support in a few months, which will be offered at a higher price point.
Is this now the official IR extender? Does this then become our pre-ordered IR extender? I really feel like you guys need to make more clear statements. In the kc868-ag thread you announced the firmware was out, I bought one online and then received it a month later at which point you then told me the software wasn’t out to support it. Now you release it as a hub and now I would have paid for a second item I don’t need because I already bought one as a pre-order. Also the software STILL DOESN’T HAVE AN OPTION TO ADD IT. Very frustrating because I asked a long time ago many times for an update.
The Cantata IR Extender is still not available. It’s an optional additional IR and 433MHz RF gateway that allows you to learn and send IR codes.
No, the IR Extender is another device, which is still not available until now.
If you already own the device, you simply need to flash the Cantata firmware and then update the configuration software. Then, at least in theory, it should work as advertised by the manufacturer.
So the configuration app update is finally released? The firmware has been out for over a month and no one replies with a release date to allow it to be used. I have updated the one I purchased but there was no mention of “hey don’t buy one yet because we still haven’t made it usable”. I know when I check my phone and remote there is still no update. All I want is some communication as to when something that is being told was released but not fully. I don’t think that is to much.
We have not released the update yet; we neither ask you nor anyone to order from other websites. You may be eager to test it with Haptique, but there is a process we have to follow. The firmware is out, and you can build your integration with systems other than Haptique.
We did just send a single email to all RS90 owners; if you have one, why do you think we want you to order another?
Just wait for the update to arrive; if you are in the beta tester group via WhatsApp, they have access to the staging app to test the hub. But it is only for Android users. If you are interested, visit the topic: Beta testing before publishing remote app - #20 by ccsfounder You will find a link to join this group.
You sort of did tell anyone they can order it from another site and you also did say the software would be out in a week from September 13th and did not tell anyone that it was delayed. All I am asking is that there is some communication, I asked specifically in the other thread about this and there was no indication that the firmware and the app were not released at the same time and no answer to ETA. I love the hardware it is just not functional at this time because the IR is to weak and there is no way for me to use it with my receiver because you don’t have it in the database (which I get) and I can’t learn new codes yet. With all that being said I will try the beta, thanks for the link.
Firmware is almost complete so once our App team created the integration with Haptique. We will send the firmware to Kinkony and also purchase few hundreds of these hubs and list them on our website. Even users can purchase directly or make use of the units they have(if any) as we will also publish the firmware to flash locally.
Will it then finally also be delivered to Early Bird backers? (Kickstart)
I’ve also paid for an extender and untill now never received the extender or shippping update! It’s not nice when people back your project but don’t get wgat they payed for!
@Sasamech KS pledges will be delivered when they are ready, please follow the KS update section. We were into financial challenges and could not manufacture them but now we are solving it by partnering with Panasonic for the mass production of all the 14 variants of the smartplugs.
